Jacob discovered this guy hanging out on one of our porch's railguards this morning - it's a Praying Mantis - a beautiful specimen, at least as long as my hand, and absolutely fearless. He would turn his head, pin you with his pupils and get all blistery with brandished claws and fluffed up wings when Jacob got too close.
He hung around for a good portion of the morning before flying off to some other place, likely in search of a mate - despite his questionable manners we enjoyed his visit!
